A dedicated space for Los Angeles artists to proudly showcase their unique work. Gallery Mariposa thoughtfully highlights a wide range of local talent, all deeply inspired by the city’s bold and vibrant creative spirit.
About
Gallery Mariposa Los Angeles, co-founded by Valerie Palomo and Corey La Rue, draws profound inspiration from Palomo’s deep-rooted connection to her native Los Angeles.
The gallery embodies a passion for the arts and celebrates the city’s distinctive artistic identity, characterized by a vibrant, inclusive space that encourages creative exploration and embraces a DIY ethos.
The gallery’s inaugural exhibition, held at 3027 Grand Ave, showcased “My Hollywood,” a captivating display featuring the works of talented artists alongside the evocative poetry of Boris Dralyuk.
The debut show was heavily influenced by Dralyuk’s poetry, with each piece serving as a visual interpretation of his poetic literary themes, creating a dynamic interplay between art and verse.
Despite the success of their first showcase, Gallery Mariposa has transitioned into an ephemeral, floating gallery space due to Corey La Rue’s ongoing medical recovery from his 2023 motorcycle accident.
This adaptable format allows the gallery to continue its mission of fostering artistic expression and community engagement, popping up in various locations to bring art to the people of Los Angeles.
